2010 SMU Water Quality Report Available
The latest edition of Spencer Municipal Utilities’ annual Consumer Confidence Report on water quality has been prepared and is being distributed. The report provides details of drinking water testing conducted during the calendar year 2009. SMU regularly test over 80 drinking water contaminants, and the 2009 data again shows now violations of EPA rules for water quality.
SMU Cares Raises Funds for Shayla Bee Foundation
Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) recently raised over $1100.00 for the Shayla Bee Foundation through a garage sale and bake sale. All the proceeds went towards the Shayla Bee Foundation. “We just gave some funds to a family in need, and this will help us replenish for the next family,” says Jerry Faulkner, president of the Shayla Bee Foundation.
SMU Board Approves Water Rate Increase
Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) Board of Trustees has approved a water rate increase effective June 1, 2010. The increase, which was approved at the board’s April meeting, is designed to pay for costs current repairs and maintenance needed on the water treatment system.
