Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) recently raised over $1100.00 for the Shayla Bee Foundation through a garage sale and bake sale. All the proceeds went towards the Shayla Bee Foundation.
“We just gave some funds to a family in need, and this will help us replenish for the next family,” says Jerry Faulkner, president of the Shayla Bee Foundation.
By hosting a garage sale during the city wide sales, SMU employees donated garage sale and bake sale items to raise the funds. SMU Cares decided to support Shayla Bee for the 2nd quarter of 2010. If you’ve visited SMU recently, you may have noticed the donation cans to help raise additional funds for Shayla Bee.
“SMU’s garage sale was a great idea to help raise funds for the families of children with medical conditions that we support,” says Faulkner.
“We’re glad our employees are going above and beyond to support the Shayla Bee Foundation and the families they are able to help,” says Amanda Gloyd, SMU sales and marketing coordinator.
SMU Cares is an employee led group of Spencer Municipal Utility employees who create ways for employees to give back to the community.
