Accountant/Compliance Assistant
Spencer Municipal Utilities is seeking a full-time Accountant/Compliance Assistant. The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated individual responsible for general accounting duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and general ledger, payroll processing, administering contracts and regulatory filings, reports and other general accounting functions. Possess excellent computer skills (Microsoft excel, word & outlook a must) and detail oriented.
Qualified candidate would have a High School Diploma or GED; 2 years certificate Associates of Arts or technical school; 2 to 4 years in accounting or related experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Water Operator
Spencer Municipal Utilities has a full-time non-management Water Operator position available.
This position will incorporate daytime, some evening and weekend hours in all weather conditions. Ideal applicant would have water or wastewater experience including water distribution or treatment plant licenses for Iowa; be able to plan and execute water main or treatment plant projects; basic water laboratory experience; safety training (confined space, respirators, fall protection, trenching and shoring, etc.) and good mechanical aptitude skills.
Qualified candidate must have High School Diploma or GED; ability to obtain Grade I Iowa Water Treatment Operator's license within 24 months after hire; Class A CDL or ability to obtain; familiarity with basic hand and power tools, ability to understand and follow basic parts diagrams, and willing to complete basic repairs; basic math skills; basic computer skills (windows operating system/Microsoft products); excellent time management, organizational, and communications skills.
Excellent benefits. Wage and title to be determined based on experience level.
