Spencer Municipal Utilities (SMU) is pleased to announce their customers will not be seeing any channels go dark in the near future.

Spencer Municipal Utilities is a member of the NCTC, which is a national, not-for-profit cable TV cooperative that negotiates programming fees for 1,000 cable companies across the United States. NCTC has reached an agreement with the MTV Networks and has informed SMU their customers will continue receiving channels as scheduled.

“We were confident the NCTC would reach an agreement in the best interest of our cable customers as well as the others affected across the United States,” says Amanda Paulsen, sales and marketing coordinator at SMU.

SMU customers will not see any interruptions in the following Expanded Basic channels: MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, Spike TV, TV Land, CMT, and Comedy Central. SMU also carries the following MTV Network channels in Digital Basic: Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, MTV2, MTV Hits, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul, and CMT Pure Country and MTVTr3s, is included in the Digital en Español package which will also not experience any interruptions.

“Without knowing details of the negotiation, we wanted to keep our customers informed as some channels could have gone dark for a short time,” adds Paulsen.

Spencer Municipal Utilities is a leading provider of cable, Internet, telephone and cellular service through i wireless in the Spencer community and has been providing utility services since 1901.
